Gretchen Pope, InstructorGretchen first started doing Pilates in the 90’s, but it was severe low back pain that brought her back to Pilates in 2007, this time for rehabilitation purposes. It was ultimately the healing benefits of Pilates that made her decide to become a Pilates instructor. Gretchen was classically trained through the Pilates Center, a 900-hour certification program, and has been teaching Pilates since 2009. While going through her training program, Gretchen became pregnant and was able to gain a great understanding first-hand and the huge benefits of pre-natal and later post-natal Pilates. She went into labor while in a Pilates studio and her first time leaving the house alone after having the baby was to take a Pilates lesson. She believes that Pilates is vital to anyone at any age and stage of life. Originally from New York, Gretchen has always had a love of fitness and a passion for teaching. When not in the Pilates studio, you can find Gretchen taking stroller walks with her son through the streets of San Francisco or jogging along Marina Green. She is also a fan of yoga, skiing, hiking, and biking. Gretchen’s top priority is seeing her clients achieve the goals they are seeking, whether they are looking to increase flexibility, improve posture, shed pounds, alleviate aches and pains, perform better in other sports, or get stronger, longer, leaner bodies. Other requisites include enjoying each session and leaving the studio feeling great. |
